Work Schedule: Monday - Thursday OR Tuesday - Friday, 7:30am - 5:30pm
3-day weekends Friday - Sunday OR Saturday - Monday

Position Overview
The Community Engagement Coordinator supports the City’s efforts to promote its services, engage with the community, and enhance quality of life programs for the City of Rowlett. Under the general supervision of the Community Engagement Manager, this role is responsible for planning and executing city special events and volunteer programs, including budgeting, concept development, and sponsorship solicitation. This role promotes events, supervises contract labor and volunteers, and evaluates event responsiveness and efficiency. The role supports neighborhood educational programming and fosters partnerships with local businesses. The ideal candidate is a creative and organized professional, passionate about community engagement and public service, capable of managing multiple projects, and skilled at working with diverse audiences. Performs related duties as required.
Essential Job Functions
Responsible for planning and implementation of all city special events and volunteer programs. Prepares budgets, develop concepts, prepares annual special event agenda, and solicits sponsorships. Promotes and markets special events and volunteer programs through print, broadcast, and social media. Supervises contract labor, vendors, and volunteers by delegating job assignments, hiring, training, and evaluating.
Works with City departments to create community outreach programs to educate citizens about local government operations, including planning and implementation of the City Academy. Promotes and organizes neighborhood educational programs and participates in the Neighborhood Summit and HOA Legal Clinic with the cities of Garland and Plano.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Communications, Public Administration, Business Administration, and related field and two years related experience in coordinating special events, community programs, volunteerism, outreach and marketing. An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job will be considered.
Other Requirements
Valid driver's license required. Must have and maintain a good driving record in accordance with the driving standards as established by the City of Rowlett. Must report all traffic citations to his/her departmental Director or his/her designee within two working days of receipt.
Must be able to work a varying schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
