The hiring salary for this position is $83,224.00-$104,030.00/Annually

OVERVIEW OF POSITION / DEPARTMENT
The Financial Supervisor within the Aurora Police Department performs a variety of analytical and administrative functions in support of the departments financial policies and controls, cost studies, organizational best practices, and the department's payroll systems. The Financial Supervisor reports directly to the Manager of Police Business Services and acts as the manager in their absence.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Gathers, organizes, and analyzes data for ongoing and special projects.
Develops information and considers available solutions or alternate methods of proceeding.
Performs analysis and forecasting on departmental revenues and expenditures
Assists the Manager of Police Business Services in budget development and monitoring.
Supervises department payroll, accounts payable, and purchasing staff
Guide decisions regarding payroll functions
Prepares and reviews various technical and financial reports.
May conduct operational effectiveness reviews to ensure Bureau-used systems are applied and functioning as designed.
Performs cost studies.
Assists users of the personnel and scheduling systems and updates system data.
Assists the Manager of Police Business services in developing or updating Bureau operating procedures.
Assists in hiring, training, evaluating and disciplining of assigned staff
Assists the Manager of Police Business Services in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for department/division
Performs additional duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in business administration, finance, public administration, or related analytical field.
Experience:
Preferred:
Master's Degree preferred
Municipal and/or law enforcement experience preferred
Experience as a lead worker or supervisor
Knowledge:
The principles and practices of analytical methods and techniques; process evaluation; project management; personal computers and related word processing, spreadsheet, database; and presentation software applications.
The principles and practices of finance and budgeting, methods and techniques of research and statistical and quantitative analysis applicable to financial analysis, budgeting, and financial planning
Skills:
Strong interpersonal, analytical, verbal, written communication, and managerial skills.
Advanced skill in the use of the computer including spreadsheet design, database management, word processing, and presentation software applications.
Strong skills in reviewing work products of others for accuracy and completeness and providing training/guidance as necessary for correction of any errors
Advanced skills in use of Microsoft products, especially Excel
Abilities to:
