Leads well maintenance mechanics in constructing, installing, repairing and maintaining well sites to run efficiently and in sound condition.

Position Specific Summary
The Lead Well Maintenance Mechanic position at the City of Tucson’s Water Department is responsible for leading and instructing a team of well maintenance mechanics in the construction, installation, removal, repair, and maintenance of well sites.
Work is performed under the supervision of the Water Operations Supervisor. This position leads and instructs the daily operational work of Well Maintenance Mechanics.
Duties and Responsibilities
Prioritizes and delegates work among well mechanics to optimize well operations. Drives, operates, and transports heavy equipment such as large cranes, truck-mounted cranes (pump rig), trucks, and trailers to various locations across the city to perform well maintenance, installation, and repairs. Reviews and assesses the daily work of Well Maintenance Mechanics for quality assurance.
Reads, enters, and interprets data in the Enterprise Asset Management System, Geographical Information System (GIS), and other systems and databases to ensure that all mapped and non-mapped asset locations are up to date. Tracks work orders in the Enterprise Asset Management System and reviews data regarding equipment status for work performed, labor, and materials.
Assists other Tucson Water divisions and external stakeholders during emergency operations, such as hauling water to isolated systems when an outage occurs to ensure that water remains available to stakeholders.
Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned.
Working Conditions
This position requires work in various climate and working conditions and includes Indoor and outdoor work with heavy exposure to extreme physical, ergonomic, or emotional hazards.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
6 months post high school
Work Experience:
Two (2) years of directly related experience
License:
Valid and unrestricted Arizona Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL) - Arizona Department of Transportation - Motor Vehicle Division
Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Two years of experience in the installation and maintenance of potable and/or non-potable water production infrastructure.

Full Hourly Range: $21.96 - 37.88 USD
