Role within the City
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic professional to join our team as the Director of Finance & Administration to help support the leadership team with financial operations. This individual will play a critical role in overseeing the financial health and small administrative functions of our organization, ensuring continued stability and operational efficiency. Government specific experience is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
• Support the directors in the organization with financial health and planning as the only finance designated position in the City to ensure effective financial management and efficient administrative operations.
• Develop and implement financial strategies, budgets, and forecasts in alignment with organizational and City Council goals.
• Oversee financial reporting, accounting, sales tax, and compliance to ensure accuracy and adherence to regulations. Including performing remedial tasks such as processing accounts payable, accounts receivable, sales tax and the payroll processing backup.
• Manage cash flow, and small investments.
• Ensure effective internal controls and streamline financial processes with the contracted outside auditing company.
• Collaborate with the City Manager, Directors of Community Development, Police and Public Works departments to support strategic initiatives and enhance organizational performance.
• Actively participate in City Council meetings to communicate financial decisions, and planning as well as support the Directors when needed on their department specific projects with significant financial impact.
• Supervise city clerk and municipal court functions including assisting with front desk coverage and check-ins with the Municipal Court Judges.
• Oversee with a hands-on approach the contract with the outsourced IT management company to ensure efficient and secure operations.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. MBA or CPA preferred.
• Proven experience in a senior financial leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of financial planning, budgeting, and analysis specifically in public sector industries.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement financial strategies and systems.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in financial modeling and accounting software.
