JOB TITLE: Cultural Arts Assistant
DEPARTMENT: Parks, Trails and Recreation
SUPERVISOR TITLE: Assistant Cultural Arts Coordinator
SALARY RANGE: $22.35 per hour Commensurate to experience.
***This position is non-exempt/hourly, part-time (up to 19 hours per week), partially benefited***
BENEFITS: Partially benefited. Employees earn 1 sick leave hour for every 30 hours worked. Up to 48 hours can be rolled over per year.
SCHEDULE/REMOTE/HYBRID: This position may involve working a variety of schedules, including evenings and weekends. This position is required to work every other Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm. Remote and/or hybrid schedules are not available. However, flexible scheduling may be discussed upon hire and supervisor approval.
RELOCATION: This position is located in Greenwood Village, Colorado. Relocation assistance is not provided.
REQUIREMENTS: The minimum requirement for this position is two years’ experience in art education or recreation programs. The equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade, supplemented by college level course work in art or a related field. Associates of Arts degree from an accredited institution with major course work in the arts, graphic design, teaching, or a related field preferred. Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to obtain coverage by the City's insurance carrier.

The City of Greenwood Village welcomes your application for a Cultural Arts Assistant position at the Curtis Center for the Arts within our Parks, Trails and Recreation Department.
As a municipal organization, Greenwood Village is a provider of emergency services. Some emergency situations, including weather-related emergencies, may necessitate Greenwood Village employees to assist in areas of work that may not be directly related to the employee’s specific job function, but which will be within the physical capabilities, training, and skills of the employee.
Distinguishing Characteristics: The purpose of the Cultural Arts Assistant position is to assist with coverage of the Curtis Center during open hours, assist with preparation and teaching of art classes at the Curtis Center, and assist with art activities at special events.
Administrative
Essential Functions:
- Provides office and administrative duties which includes answering phones, registering people for art classes, and answering customer/visitor questions.
- Processes art sales at the Center. Will run errands for staff which includes replenishing art supplies and office materials for the Center, pick up and drop off art projects, etc.
- Assist with events and programs at the Center which include Art on the Green, concerts, lectures, gallery exhibits and receptions, etc.
Youth Art Classes
- Assists the Assistant Cultural Arts Coordinator with Youth Art Classes
- Assists in the teaching of the classes and camps and fills in as a substitute as needed.
- Drives the city van to deliver supplies for summer programs.
- Organization and prepping of materials and supplies needed for Youth Art Classes and Camps
- Keeps records of supply inventory and informing the Assistant Cultural Arts Coordinator of what supplies are needed to be purchased or replenished.
- Maintains, cleans and organizes classroom and storage room.
- Assists the Assistant Cultural Arts Coordinator in researching art projects for classes and staying up to date on new trends and materials being used in the arts.
- Assists in overseeing the Rec Aides during art camps
Social Media And Advertising
- Assists in the design for social media posts to advertise and promote not only art classes at the Center but also exhibits, events and additional programming done at the Center
- Creates social media “Reels” and other videos used to promote the exhibits, art classes and additional events and programs done at the Center for Social Media outlets.
- Records the Facebook Live events that include artist tours, lectures, concerts, etc.
Position Requirements
Knowledge and Skills:
- Visual and performing art.
- Planning, organizing and administering youth art classes.
- Modern office procedures, methods and equipment including a computer.
- Basic business letter writing and basic report preparation.
- Effectively use interpersonal skills to handle day to day contact with customers both in person and by phone or email.
Abilities
- Create marketing materials and social media posts to meet schedules and timelines
- Operate and use modern office equipment including a computer.
- Deliver excellent customer service.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Effectively communicate and interact with others to maintain cooperative working relationships
- Lift 50 lbs.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Experience And Training
- Experience: Two years’ experience in art education or recreation programs

Certificates Or Licenses
Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the State of Colorado and a driving record satisfactory to obtain coverage by the City's insurance carrier.

Should be able to effectively interact and communicate with others encountered during the performance of assigned duties including outside contractors, architects, the public, and elected official.
Supervisory Requirements
Receives general supervision from the Assistant Cultural Arts Coordinator.
Hazards
Job requires occasional physical effort such as lifting of objects weighing over 50 pounds. Evening and/or weekend work required
