The City of Covington is seeking a Tax Analyst that will be responsible for a variety of technical, financial, and analytical duties associated with the administration of the City of Covington’s Business and Occupation (B&O) tax program, as well as other miscellaneous tax programs. This position requires a detail-oriented individual possessing strong organizational skills including prioritizing, accuracy, multi-tasking, handling interruptions appropriately; and ensuring assignments are completed in a timely and effective manner. This is a full-time (average 40-hours per week) position, which is FLSA-covered and eligible for overtime compensation.
Education and Experience:
Minimum Criteria:
High School Diploma or GED
Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in accounting, taxation, or closely related field, which includes two (2) years of municipal or State experience demonstrating knowledge of government functions, policies, rules, and regulations; and an understanding of accounting principles.
Preferred Criteria: (In addition to Minimum Criteria)
Graduation from an accredited 4-year college or university program related to business or accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully carry out the requirements of the position.
Washington municipal B&O Tax experience.
Knowledge of Springbrook Software.
Special requirements:
Successful completion of a pre-employment national criminal background check and reference check.
Possession of a valid Washington State driver’s license, or the ability to obtain a Washington State license within one month, with a satisfactory driving record.
Proper documentation to fulfill the requirements of the Immigration and Nationality Act within one (1) day of employment is a condition of employment with the City of Covington.
