The City of Stockton's Municipal Utilities Department currently has a Senior Plant Operator vacancy in the Water Division. The MUD is comprised of Water, Wastewater, and Stormwater Enterprises and provides utility services to customers within the Stockton Metropolitan area. The MUD provides water, wastewater, and stormwater services for residential, commercial, and industrial customers within the city limits and beyond. The department is responsible for the City’s regulatory planning and policy activities, including compliance with mandated State and Federal regulations regarding the quality of water treated and discharged and its impact on the environment. The MUD is also responsible for utility planning, utility capital improvements, utility financial management, and water resources management. The incumbent will work a rotating schedule with 12 hour shifts.
Prior to appointment, eligible candidates will be required to pass a back evaluation examination by a City Physician, and submit to and successfully pass a drug screen and background investigation, which will include fingerprinting.
Under supervision, incumbents have the lead responsibility for planning, scheduling, coordinating, directing, and reviewing the effective and efficient operation and monitoring of the water or wastewater treatment system during an assigned shift in addition to operating and monitoring various plant equipment.

Possession of a high school diploma or GED.
Experience/Certifications:
Valid California Grade T-3 Water Treatment Plant Operator Certificate.
Other Requirements:
Must possess and maintain a valid California Class C driver’s license.
The Examination:
Applicants who qualify in terms of relevant work experience and education, that best fit the needs of the City, will be invited to participate in the examination process. The examination process may include a training and experience examination weighted 100%. However, the City reserves the right to utilize alternative testing methods if deemed necessary. Candidates must receive a minimum passing score of 70%, as determined by the relative performance of all candidates in all portions of the examination. In the event of identical ratings, candidates' names will be arranged in order of application date/time, and, if the same, then arranged alphabetically.
