The Office of Inspector General (OIG) seeks a skilled attorney licensed by The Florida Bar to provide legal services, advice, and representation to the OIG. This position assists with or conducts investigations, contract/procurement reviews, and outreach activities. Other duties include: Conducting legal research; interpreting and analyzing laws, ordinances, legal cases and opinions; reviewing audits and investigations for legal sufficiency; drafting opinions, contracts, and other legal documents; and administering the Office's public information program, including media assets and government and public training outreach.
Required knowledge/abilities include: Knowledge of the laws, rules, and regulations applicable to governmental contracting and oversight; knowledge of Chapters 112 and 119, Florida Statutes; ability to assist with and/or perform investigations, reviews, and oversight and analysis of various aspects of the government contracting and procurement processes; ability to plan and execute a public information program, utilize social media assets and government and public training outreach; ability to analyze complex governmental activities to determine compliance with policies/procedures and best practices; communicate effectively, in a clear and concise manner, both orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with County and municipal agencies and employees and maintain the highest standards of integrity, honesty, efficiency, and accountability; and provide independent oversight of the operations of governmental units under OIG's jurisdiction.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Juris Doctor from an accredited law school; minimum of two (2) years of government law experience and/or administration or criminal law.
Necessary Special Requirement: Admission to The Florida Bar.
PREFERENCE FOR EXPERIENCE: Representing/working for a governmental agency in a legal advisory capacity.
