PAY AND BENEFITS
Annual Pay Range: $59,925.25 - $76,368.23
Hourly Pay Range: $28.810215 - $36.715495
Salary offers will be made within the posted pay range and will be based on a candidate's experience (paid or unpaid) that is directly relevant to the position.

JOB DETAILS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Do you excel at organizing complex financial data and ensuring every detail is accurate? Are you committed to maintaining precision and accountability in every transaction? If so, we invite you to consider joining our Finance team as an Accountant 1 - Accounts Receivable.
At the heart of our fiscal operations, this role is crucial in supporting the County's financial integrity by carefully handling cash deposits, billing, interfund transactions, reconciliations, and more. You will not simply crunch numbers—you will play a key role in keeping our books clean, our data dependable, and our services running smoothly.
As a key contributor on our Accounts Receivable team, you will be responsible for daily deposit summaries, monthly account reconciliations, interdepartmental billings, and working in the Accounts Receivable (AR) module to ensure accuracy across our financial systems. Your work may include reviewing account coding, preparing journal entries, resolving discrepancies, supporting annual audits, and contributing to developing policies and procedures that improve our processes.
Whether you review financial transactions for compliance, generate reports for management, or provide excellent customer service to departments and partners, your contributions will help uphold the standards of accountability that our community depends on.

Required Minimum Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*
• A minimum of three (3) years of experience years in accounting or fiscal management. Any combination of relevant experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and skills may substitute for the required years of experience.
• Exposure to, training in, or experience with an integrated Financial Management Information System (FMIS)
• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)\
• Ability to convey and exchange information clearly and effectively, using appropriate methods of communication
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Preferred Special Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Intermediate level skills in computer spreadsheets, word processing and data entry (preferably MS Excel and Word)
• Exposure to, training in, or experience with PeopleSoft Finance
• Accounting experience at a state or local government
• Knowledge of Governmental Accounting Standards (GASB)

TYPICAL TASKS
Duties may include but are not limited to the following:
• Performs or assists in performing several operational functions, including accounts receivable, verification or reconciliation, general ledger entries, etc.; performs account reconciliations and makes original or correcting journal entries to specific accounts; prepares supporting work papers, cash balances, proofs, and schedules.
• Prepares or assists in preparing a variety of detailed periodic and annual reports, spreadsheets, and summaries for use by management; ensures selected general ledger accounts and annual reports accurately reflect the financial position of the assigned work function or program.
• Learns and applies laws, rules, regulations, and fiscal policies and procedures applicable to assigned work functions; monitors, coordinates, and may recommend adjustments to fiscal systems.
• Performs or assists in performing and reviewing standard financial transactions to assure accuracy and conformity with generally accepted accounting principles and with state statute, county policy, established procedures and availability of funds; determines and initiates appropriate action; assists in development and implementation of financial policies and procedures; assists in reviewing and evaluating accounting systems and recommends related improvements.
• Assists with reviews of accounting transactions to ensure compliance with required county, state, and federal requirements; examines, analyzes, and verifies documents to ensure adherence to established controls and accepted professional standards.
• Answer department inquiries and provide customer service.
• Other duties as assigned.
WORK SCHEDULE
This position is included in the county's alternate workweek program, working 40 hours during a standard workweek of Monday through Thursday (Fridays off). Specific hours of work will be discussed with the candidate selected for this position at the time an offer of employment is extended. The exact amount of on-site/telework and schedule will be discussed with the hiring manager during time of offer. Telework locations cannot be located outside of Oregon or Washington.
