P/T Seasonal Mowing and Handy-Person
(Maintenance Worker I or Trainee):
This is a part-time seasonal position and is at the first level of classification. Performs manual labor to ensure the proper maintenance, repair and care of facilities, parks, grounds, green spaces, rights-of-way, ponds, swells, berms, athletic fields, community and common areas. Responsible for the care and replacement of plants and trees to include, but not limited to raking, pruning, mulching, clearing, planting, minor irrigation installs and repair, mowing, weeding, edging and painting. Responsible for safely using and proper care and maintenance of all tools and equipment necessary to complete projects, assignments and/or tasks. Responsible for preparing for events through constructing and/or deconstructing of fencing, barricades, chairs and stages, as well as “set-up” and “tear-down” tasks. Duties may include the cleaning of buildings and public restrooms and moving office furniture. Performs additional duties as assigned. Must exhibit attention to detail, accuracy, and safety. Must be able to communicate and present oneself in a professional manner. Ability to establish and maintain effective working and professional relationships with City employees and officials, and the general public. Ability to take and follow oral instructions. Ability to read and understand instructions and product directions. Ability to work under high demands, short time constraints, and the pressure of a fast-paced work environment. Ability to work during weekends and night-time events and hours of operations. Skilled in operating ride and push mowers, and hand-held and/or power tools. Must possess a valid Class C driver license. Must pass all post offer pre-employment processes and/or procedures, to include but not limited to Drug Screen, Physical Examination, and applicable Background Checks.
Requires either a High School diploma or GED, and 1 to 3 years work-related experience in landscape, grounds and building maintenance, or related field. Hiring Range: $15/hr to $20/hr (DOQ). Only applicants meeting the minimum requirements of the position will be considered.
Trainee level of classification with up to one year of experience preferred has a hiring range of $10/hr to $14.75/hr (DOQ).
