The purpose of this position is to direct and manage the City’s small, non-hub commercial service airport by planning, organizing, and directing all airport activities; including developing and managing the budget; working with City, State, and Federal agencies; and personnel management.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Directs and manages general aviation and commercial operations.
- Directs and manages all customer service initiatives at airport.
- Oversees and manages fixed based operations.
- Oversees and manages vendor relations.
- Develops and implements plans for operations, maintenance, and safety and security to meet airport and city goals.
- Prepares, administers, and monitors annual operating and capital budget in coordination with other city departments and monitors budget performance against projections.
- Acts as a technical advisor to the City Manager and City Council on all aviation issues and attends Council meetings and other city and county events.
- Monitors departmental compliance with rules and regulations established by applicable federal agencies.
- Oversees hiring, training, coaching, evaluations, and disciplinary actions including termination of all aviation employees.
- Coordinates with City, State, and Federal agencies for planning and development and meets with other departments and agencies to make strategies and plan for airport development and growth.
- Directs and manages projects, which includes developing project scope of services; obtaining funding for projects; ensuring projects are within budget and are on time; resolving complex project issues; and/or, performing other related activities.
- Oversees grant administration activities, which includes processing grants, developing and submitting grant forms, and researching grant sources.
- Negotiates business plans and leases and meets with companies and aviation departments to increase business development.
- Participates in community organizations and professional organizations to promote the airport’s image and programs.

Licensing And Certifications

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
- Positions in this class require: standing, fine dexterity, walking, sitting, reaching, climbing, vision, hearing, talking.
- Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds occasionally, 10 pounds frequently, or negligible amounts constantly AND/OR walking or standing to a significant degree.
- Incumbents in this class may be subjected to extreme temperature, wetness and/or humidity, respiratory hazards, noise and vibration, physical hazards.

Required Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Administration or related field from an accredited college or university, with at least nine (9) years of relevant and supervisory experience; or the City may consider an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
