This position performs professional and administrative work in the development and oversight of community recreation programming. It requires organizational and leadership skills to develop, implement, and coordinate programs and activities for youth, teens, and adults in the community.
OUR PARKS DEPARTMENTAuburn's Recreation Division provides opportunities for the public to participate in diverse recreational programs and activities designed to meet the needs of the community. These programs include preschool, youth, teen, and adult leisure programs; youth, teen, and adult athletics; fitness and wellness programs; programs designed to provide social and recreational opportunities to senior citizens and those with special needs, and a host of special events suitable for the entire family and community at large. The City operates as a Strong-Mayor form of Mayor-Council government, with a City Council of seven at-large members.In this role, you will:Plan, schedule, organize, facilitate, coordinate, and evaluate a variety of community fitness, athletics, STEAM, and wellness programs for youth, teens, and adults; secures all the necessary staff and supplies for assigned programs.
Coordinate with other Recreation Coordinators in the delivery of community fitness, Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM), and wellness programs.
Encourage and work with community organizations, clubs, and agencies to obtain services, programs, and support for youth programs and activities.
Deal tactfully and courteously with the public, coworkers, and other City employees, occasionally in difficult customer service situations.
Conduct a variety of community meetings involving youth and adults.
