The following are the duties of this position at the full working level
- Activates, monitors, and controls job distribution and resource allocation for special processing requirements to link internal operating systems and utility programs with application programs, peripheral equipment, teleprocessing and input/output channels.
- Monitors systems status and performance, observes and responds to system messages, and defines, isolates, and resolves a wide range of common equipment and operating problems, failures and malfunctions.
- Assists in developing new or revised operating procedures. Run and monitor test programs to identify problems or potential for obvious problems such as memory overload. Corrects or adjusts priorities and workflow by reconfiguring equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
This position has career progression. If you are selected at a grade level lower than the full working level, you may be non-competitively promoted as your career progresses. For example, you may be hired as a GS-05, but if the position has career progression to GS-11, then you may move from a GS-05 to a GS-11 in as little as three years.

Qualifications
Federal experience is not required. The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. General Experience
GS-4 Level: You must have one year of general experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-3 grade level in the Federal service.
General experience for this position includes
- Progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular competencies needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.
- This may be paid or non-paid experience.
OR
Two years of education above the high school level (education may have been obtained in an accredited junior college, college, university, business, secretarial or technical school).

An equivalent amount of combined education and experience.
Specilaized Experience
GS-5 Level:You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-4 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized experience for this position includes
- Experience with operating functions primarily related to peripheral computer components such as mail machines and printers;
- recording control totals for on-line output reports;
- preparing problem logs; following processing schedule and alerting of missing output listings;
- filing on-line controls and responding to inquiries related to controls and control totals.
- Examples of qualifying experience may have been gained in positions in the operation of a computer or peripheral device used in support of computer operations, computer related occupations that involve programming, systems analysis, production control, scheduling, knowledge of computer terminology, media and data flow, and preparing and interpreting program and system charts or other work requiring comparable knowledge of computer processing techniques.
SPECIALIZED EXPIERENCE
GS-6 Level:You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-5 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized experience for this position includes
- Experience with standard, optional, and precedent rules and procedures to isolate and resolve common equipment and operating problems on multiprocessing\multiprogramming computer systems;
- Using operating systems configurations and equipment characteristics, utility software, and job control languages to activate, control, detect errors, and malfunctions.
- Examples of qualifying experience may have been gained in positions in the operation of a computer or peripheral device used in support of computer operations, computer related occupations that involve programming, systems analysis, production control, scheduling, knowledge of computer terminology, media and data flow, and preparing and interpreting program and system charts or other work requiring comparable knowledge of computer processing techniques.
OR
A Bachelor's degree or four (4) years of education above high school in any field of study from an accredited college or university.
OR
An equivalent amount of combined education and experience.
MEET TIME IN GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT: You must meet applicable TIG requirements to be considered eligible. To meet TIG for positions above the GS-05 grade level, you must have served at least one year (52 weeks) at the next lower grade (or equivalent) in the normal line of progression for the position you are applying to. Advancement to positions up to GS-05 is permitted if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade held within the preceding 52 weeks.
AND

- Tour of Duty: Bloomington Days M-F 7:00am-3:00pm, Bloomington Swings M-F 3:00pm-11:00pm, Detroit Swings M-F 4:00pm-12:00am, Detroit Graves M-F 12:00am-8:00am, Ogden Swings Sun-Thur 3:00pm-11:00pm.
- In the event that a building is closed due to rent management, new hires may be placed in a local commuting location.
- As a reminder - If you are selected for a position, you are responsible for reporting to your designated POD (location) on the negotiated start date or as directed by management.
- Season is from March to December 2025. Season Length is 10 months Employees who work a seasonal work schedule are placed in non-pay status or recalled to duty as workload or budget dictates and in accordance with their seasonal employment agreement.
- All TODs have no lunch, 2 twenty-minute breaks. Maybe required to work holidays and weekends, depending on the workload. This is a physical job requiring you to be on your feet for extended periods, up to 8 hrs a day in an environmentally controlled space. You must be able to lift, push, pull & carry 50lbs.
- The employment of any candidate selected for this position, including a current employee or a new hire, selected for this position may be conditional upon classification and/or audit of federal tax returns. This audit may include up to 2 years of returns.
