Lakehaven Water and Sewer District has an immediate opening for one Pre-treatment Inspector in our Field Operations Department.
A Lakehaven Pre-treatment Inspector is responsible for performing a variety of tasks to maintain the effectiveness of the District’s Wastewater Pretreatment Program. This includes establishing and monitoring commercial pretreatment devices for compliance with the District’s Sewer Use Rules by permitting, inspecting, sampling, reporting, record keeping, enforcing requirements, and providing customer service. This position acts as the District’s representative to customers discharging or planning to discharge to the District’s sewer system and professionally and effectively promotes compliance with applicable federal, state, and local pretreatment regulations.
As a Lakehaven Pre-treatment Inspector, you will be part of a team that has been recognized by the National Association of Clean Water Agencies for its environmental stewardship and has been a long-standing member of the American Water Works Association. Lakehaven has a service area population of over 135,000 people living across a 35 square mile area in south King County, makings us one of the largest special-purpose water and sewer districts in the state. Our water system includes 450 miles of water mains, 25 active wells and 12 storage tanks, which allows us to meet a current annual average water demand of 10 million gallons per day (MGD) from the community. Lakehaven also has two wastewater treatment plants, 33 sewer lift stations, and 350 miles of sewer mains capable of collecting and treating up to 15.6 MGD. Position placement and pay is dependent upon experience and qualifications.
The successful candidate should have the following (at entry level):
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two (2) year college degree preferred in Physical Sciences / Chemistry /Biology / Math / Engineering, or related fields, and two (2) years’ experience with a wastewater utility, or any equivalent combination of experience, knowledge and/or education.
• Must obtain within one (1) year, a valid Washington State, “Group I-OIT” Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator certification.
• Must possess a Wastewater Collection Specialist I Certification.
• Must obtain a Cross Connection Control Specialist Certification within one (1) year from initial employment.
• Basic knowledge of domestic wastewater sewage collection system and treatment plant operations.
• General knowledge of EPA, DOH and DOE rules and regulations pertaining to wastewater testing and pretreatment, including reporting requirements.
• Ability to read and understand as-built drawings.
