We will look to you to motivate and lead staff to deliver excellent customer service and the highest level of humane care for the animals at our Scottsdale PetSmart Everyday Adoption Center. You’ll be responsible for organizing, planning, assisting, and coordinating your team to provide optimal experiences for both animals and people. This position requires the employee in office and customer facing for all hours worked.

We Require
- Three years of experience working with animals in a veterinary hospital, humane society, or another animal facility (may include volunteer work)
- Two years experience in a supervisor role
- High school diploma or GED
- Must be flexible and able to work all shifts, which include starting as early as 6 am and finishing as late as 9 pm, working weekends and holidays, determined by the needs of the Department
- Must complete animal handling training within three months of hire

Job Contributions
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the adoption center, including care, adoption, inventory, staffing, and facilities components
- Manage and develop employees into a highly effective team by setting clear performance objectives and goals, providing regular and honest feedback, and creating individualized development plans
- Conduct recruitment duties, including interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and training new kennel employees
- Deliver the highest level of customer service to customers, volunteers, and stakeholders, ensuring their team delivers to the same standard
- Work with the Volunteer Engagement team to ensure adequate training and support are provided for volunteers operating at the center
- Conduct routine audits to ensure proper safety protocols, disease management, sanitation, and service expectations are continually met
- Maintain detailed and accurate records, providing reports as necessary
- Work with the ACC and PetSmart leaders to review and update policies and procedures and ensure set policies and procedures are followed
- Oversee the transport of animals to and from the adoption center as needed and ensure the center's capacity remains in compliance with set ACC and PetSmart expectations
- Attend meetings and participate in other ACC functions as directed
Working Conditions
- Work is predominately performed in an animal shelter with exposure to extreme and varying temperatures, excessive noise, dogs and cats with unknown temperaments or behaviors, animal waste and fluids, deceased animals, cleaning chemicals, and zoonotic diseases
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk on all types of surfaces that are sometimes slippery, uneven, and rough
- The position is required to handle animals
- Must be able to lift up to 50-100 lbs. occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently, or up to 10-20 lbs. constantly
