About The Position
The Dispatcher provides emergency radio dispatch support for divisional and departmental field service activities, including public safety, bite quarantine, stray animal capture, court/citation activity, city and county code enforcement, and multiple reporting functions of the division, providing mandated services to the public.

We Require
- One year of experience in the operation of a multi-line phone system or radio communications
- One year of experience with public relations
- High School diploma or GED
- A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis
We Also Value
- Associate degree or higher in business
- One year experience as a dispatcher in an animal control or emergency-type environment
- One year of experience with Chameleon software or as an animal control agent
- One year of experience in an animal control call center environment
Job Contributions
- Monitor and track up to 20 field officers, lead and supervise for Officer safety operating two-way radio, Samsara GPS System, cell phones and/or Emails
- Complete Daily Bite Report Tasks, Bite Health Checks, Bite Details and Results, Sending Bite Related closeout letters and relay specific bite information to agents for investigations, follow-ups, and rabies quarantine health checks
- Create and generate activities in a timely manner, prioritize complaints, and facilitate time-sensitive responses for specific contracted cities/towns. Maintain constant communications with field supervisors and field agents on emergency PD/Fire calls and efficient assignment of resources
- Receive/make phone calls from/to 22 law enforcement departments, other government regulatory agencies, animal welfare organizations, elected officials, public health authorities, fire and emergency services, and internal county customers
- Query vital information in the database and communicate accurately to officers in the field. Provide clear and accurate information to field agents, always utilizing department formats on approximately 3,500 activities per month
- Check citizen complaints input by call center for accurate addresses and jurisdictions before dispatching to field agents and follow up with citizens on confined activities each shift
- Work with field agents to prepare, update, change and/or enter Officer’s actions using over 50 different abbreviated codes when needed. Enter accurate data into software system
- Prepare daily truck logs for each officer's beginning and ending vehicle mileage in the computer software, compare to the PM mileage, and make maintenance appointments for vehicles with Equipment Services as needed. Track vehicle mileage and preventative maintenance schedules to ensure proper vehicle maintenance
- Prepare and monitor activities for Court Order/Vicious Orders. Research specific sections of laws for critical information as directed by the manager or supervisor
- Open daily mail and email, review critical information, and input data into the software system to generate new activities. Prepare monthly exception reports by reviewing each activity completed in the month. Fill out and file clerical forms. - Exerting up to 10 lbs. occasionally or negligible weights frequently; sitting most of the time
- Position is typically office or administrative work and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions
