Join Our Growing IT Team: Senior IT Technician
Are you passionate about technology and enjoy helping others? The City of Commerce City is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Senior IT Technician to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting our city's technology infrastructure and contributing to a positive and collaborative work environment.
In this role, you will specifically support the Police Department by managing and maintaining critical systems and technologies used in law enforcement. This includes ensuring the reliability of communications systems, maintaining computer networks, and providing technical assistance for various software applications that enhance public safety operations.

What You'll Do
- Provide Tier 1/2/3 technical support to city staff via phone, in-person, email, and IT Service Management.
- Troubleshoot and maintain various technologies, including hardware, software, printers, and audio/visual systems.
- Lead projects and mentor IT Technicians, addressing complex issues.
- Offer specialized support for Mobile Device Computers (MDCs) and city software like Microsoft Office 365.
- Train end-users on technology systems and evaluate new equipment/software.
- Manage user accounts in Active Directory and monitor service tickets for timely completion.
- Document work in the IT Service Management System and lead the service desk in the supervisor's absence.
- Participate in on-call support and City Council Meeting AV support.
- Troubleshoot network wiring issues.
Bonus Points
- Experience with Creston AV systems and Tightrope cable broadcast software.
- CJIS certification or the ability to obtain it within 30 days of employment.
- Familiarity with PMI Project Management Methodologies and ITIL.
- Experience with data cabling.
- Experience providing support for a police department or other law enforcement agency.
Hiring Salary Is Dependent Upon Experience.
The hiring range is $33.91 - $37.01/hour.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. Experience using the Microsoft Office Suite and current Microsoft Windows operating systems. Experience as a team lead or senior resource required. Training and experience in maintenance, repair and proper use of personal computers and related computer hardware. Training and experience in maintenance, repair, and support of audio visual systems. CJIS certified or ability to obtain certification within 30 days of employment.
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
Knowledge Of
- the use, function, and support of Microsoft Office 2016 Suite and current Microsoft Windows operating systems
- the use, function, and support of Office365 including OneDrive for Business, SharePoint and Skype for Business
- AV troubleshooting and support (Creston preferred)
- cable broadcast software (Tightrope preferred)
- networking concepts such as DNS, DHCP, Email, HTTP, SSL, OSI Model, and TCP/IP protocols and applications.
- workstation security: anti-virus, anti-spyware, general OS security
- the use, function, maintenance, imaging, repair, and support of personal computers and related hardware
- the use, function, maintenance, repair, and support of telephone and telecommunications systems.
- data cabling standards
- PMI Project Management Methodologies
- the terminology, principles and methods utilized within the Information Technology Department
- ITIL
Skill in:
- supporting Microsoft Windows 7 and Windows 10
- configuring and installing, laptops, printers, and computer peripherals
- desktop imaging software (MDT preferred)
- excellent verbal and written communication including the ability to explain technical terminology to non-technical end users
- utilizing computer hardware, software tools, applications and techniques to complete daily assignments
- interpersonal and customer service
