Civil Engineer I :
Full Range: $76,456 - $107,039/annually
Anticipated Hiring Range: $76,456 - $91,747/annually
Civil Engineer II :
Full Range: $82,190 - $115,066/annually
Anticipated Hiring Range: $82,190 - 98,628/annually
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary
- Prepares and reviews traffic studies, traffic control/access plans, drainage submittals and engineering reports for developments including water, sewer, storm water drainage, and roadways. Reviews drawings and specifications for public improvements for conformance with generally accepted engineering standards and Town requirements.
- Interprets, applies and enforces the provisions of the Town’s engineering design standards adhering to applicable federal, state and local codes, laws, rules regulations, specifications, standards, policies and procedures.
- Read and interpret maps, evaluate proposals for annexation, site planning, plats, subdivision plans, landscape plans, trail plans, grading plans, utility plans, perform water calculations, roadway plans and other land use applications.
- Reviews agreements, legal descriptions, easements, and ownership deeds and provides input.
- Reviews engineering calculations and design. Provides technical and professional engineering support services relative to assigned area of responsibility; provides assistance to construction inspectors in the interpretation of plans and resolution of problems during construction as required including site visits.
- Recommends governmental measures affecting land use, public utilities, community facilities, and housing and transportation to control and guide community development and Urban Renewal.
- Prepares and reviews cost estimates for public projects and Developer funded projects.
- Manages the design and construction of Capital Improvement Projects; prepares contract documents and cost estimates for CIP and development reimbursement.
- Serves as project engineer and/or inspector on construction projects such as storm drainage systems, water and sewer utilities, bridges and streets.
- Ensures projects are in compliance with the Town's State MS4 Stormwater Permit.
Administrative/Miscellaneous
- Prepares reports, reviews comments, completes correspondence, capable of delivering comprehensive presentation of technical information to senior management, Board of Trustees, Town Commissions and the public.
- Prepares engineering standards and specifications for the Town, and makes recommendations to supervisor.
- Issues public improvement, grading and floodplain permits.
- Respond to questions from citizens or developers either in person or over the telephone. Provide technical support to other staff members, contractors, developers, and the public. Research files and/or maps for walk-in citizens and developers. Issues improvement permits.
- Works closely with the planning group and all other departments.
- Performs related work as required and assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Civil Engineer I:
- Graduation from a four-year college or university with major course work in civil engineering or closely related field.
- Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in civil engineering relating to construction, development, drainage, utilities, or traffic engineering work.
A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Certificates/Licenses/Registrations:
Civil Engineer I - Registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with the Colorado State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors is required. Valid Colorado Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record.
Civil Engineer II:
- Graduation from a four-year college or university with major course work in civil engineering or closely related field.
- Four (4) or more years of progressively responsible experience in civil engineering relating to construction, development, drainage, utilities, or traffic engineering work.
A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Certificates/Licenses/Registrations:
Civil Engineer II - Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) with the Colorado State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors is required or the ability to obtain a Colorado P.E. within one year to continue in the position. Valid Colorado Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record.
Desired Qualifications:
