Bring Events to Life—Join Our Special Events Team as a Community Services Coordinator!
This recruitment will be filling one (1) full-time Community Services Coordinator position for the Special Events Division
in the Parks & Community Services department.
This recruitment will also be used to establish an eligibility list for consideration with future vacancies
AND may be underfilled at the Part-Time Benefitted Assistant Coordinator Level.
A 2% base salary increase is scheduled to become effective with the first full pay period that begins after July 1, 2025 .
The Community Services Coordinator position is approved to start after July 1, 2025.
THE POSITION
This role provides an exciting opportunity to lead and support special event planning and recreation initiatives across the City. As part of the Special Events division, the Community Services Coordinator will organize and execute a diverse range of events, from seasonal celebrations to large-scale community gatherings, ensuring residents have access to enriching recreational and cultural experiences. Responsibilities include coordinating logistics, managing event programming, collaborating with vendors and partners, and ensuring seamless execution of community events that align with the City’s goals.

IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate is a dynamic, organized, and detail-oriented professional with experience in event planning and community programming. They excel at managing multiple recreation activities, demonstrating leadership in coordinating staff and volunteers while ensuring seamless execution of special events. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to foster community enthusiasm and engagement. A proactive approach to scheduling, resource planning, and program evaluation will ensure success in this role, as the candidate plays a crucial part in delivering high-quality recreational experiences for City residents.
Minimum Qualifications
A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is graduation from high school, or G.E.D. equivalent; and at least two years of paid or volunteer experience as a Recreation Aide or in a related field and one year of supervisory or lead experience. Completion of course work in physical education or recreation is highly desirable.
CPR Certification within six (6) months of hire
Incumbents may be required to work irregular hours, including weekends, holidays and/or evenings.
