The Position
The City of Beaverton is hiring a Communications Specialist to join the creative group behind citywide promotion and visual storytelling. The Communications Specialist supports the city's strategic communications efforts--including graphic design, social media, content development, printing, and brand identity--and helps ensure that the community receives timely and accurate information about city programs and services.
This position is part of a five-person team that serves as the organization's communications experts, advising on communication tactics and developing major communications deliverables. The team also provides printing, graphic design, and mail services for city departments and programs.
The ideal candidate thrives on variety and takes pleasure in providing excellent customer service to internal customers, sometimes under deadline pressure. Your days will be a mix of design tasks, print production, fulfilling work orders for audio-visual equipment, and time-sensitive administrative tasks. You'll have the chance to work with employees across the city, including Library, Police, Community Development, and Public Works. The successful candidate will have experience with Adobe Creative Suite, basic graphic design skills, print production experience, and willingness to cross-train in new areas to support the team.
This is a full-time, non-exempt, SEIU-classified position. The regular work schedule will be Monday-Friday during typical business hours. The work will primarily be performed on-site at a City of Beaverton facility.
Please click APPLY to submit your application via the City of Beaverton's online portal. You will need to fill out your work history and respond to several supplemental questions.
