
The City of Riverside, Innovation and Technology Department (IT) is accepting applications for the position of INNOVATION AND TECHNOLOGY ANALYST II - CYBERSECURITY ANALYST to fill one (1) vacancy in the Cybersecurity Division. The eligibility list established may be used to fill the current and/or upcoming vacancies within this classification for up to six (6) months.
The Information & Technology department is looking for a highly qualified candidate with intermediate security experience who has been a key contributor in large, complex heterogeneous IT environments and has played an intermediate role in the implementation and monitoring of enterprise-wide security projects. The ideal candidate will be expected to adhere to regulatory compliance standards and industry best practices.
Under general supervision, theIT Analyst II in Cybersecurityis to perform a variety of complex professional, technical and analytical duties in the areas of incident response, forensics, auditing, access control, vulnerability management, documentation and maintenance of assigned systems, security awareness training, data classification, data loss prevention, SIEM and Next Generation firewall management; to act in a lead capacity providing technical guidance to the Innovation & Technology Analysts.The Cybersecurity Analyst is to perform other duties as assigned.
Typical duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Perform complex system analysis in the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of information systems, networks, servers, supporting hardware and software applications.
- Provide advanced technical assistance to system users in accordance with applicable information systems policies, procedures, methods and techniques.
- Participate in evaluating, planning, implementing and integrating new systems and current system upgrades.
- Prepare and design complex technical reports through database and report writing tools.
- Develop time management tasks as they relate to a project implementation.
- Perform research, gather costing information, vendor quotes and recommend hardware and software based on current or new City standards.
- Develop and produce system documentation, instructional and procedural manuals.
- Coordinate and conduct training for client users on assigned systems, applications, or other special projects.
- Work with administration and propose enhancements to improve services, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain effective and professional relationships with vendors and their technical support personnel.
- Provide on-call after hours support 24x7 as assigned.
- Provide scheduled after hours support for migrations, installations, troubleshooting and upgrades as assigned.
Option IEducation: Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or closely related field.
Experience: Two years of full-time work experience in computer science, information systems, voice/data communications, data center operations, database administration or a related field.
Option IIEducation: Equivalent to an Associate's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or closely related field.
Experience: Four years of full-time work experience in computer science, information systems, voice/data communications, data center operations, database administration or a related field.
Option IIIEducation: High School graduation or satisfactory equivalent (GED).
Experience: Six years of full-time work experience in computer science, information systems, voice/data communications, data center operations, database administration or a related field.
Necessary Special Requirement - When assigned to the Police Department, must be able to successfully pass an extensive police background
Highly Desired Qualifications:- At least three (3) years of enterprise security experience (e.g. in the design, development, implementation, auditing, documentation, troubleshooting and maintenance of complex network equipment, firewall, chassis based and standalone switches, and router architectures and configurations, servers, web servers, applications, operating systems, active directory, Linux, Unix, group policy, SQL and Oracle Database systems, VMware, identity and access management systems, patch management and endpoint protection systems).
- At least three (3) years utilizing tools (e.g. Wire shark or similar packet capture tools, SIEM, Net flow, TCP/IP and packet analysis tools).
- Strong working knowledge of Nessus and vulnerability management lifecycle.
- At least three (3) years of enterprise security experience designing and managing defense in depth protection tiers including performing disk, memory and malware forensic analysis.
- Possess one or more security certifications such as Security+, CISSP, GCFA, GCIH, GPEN, GREM, GSNA, CISM or CEH.
- Experience performing Information Technology work within a Government Agency
