Department of Transportation Services,
Transportation Engineering Division is looking for someone with at least 2 years of transportation planning experience to participate in long-range planning for bicycle-related capital improvement projects and developing the Statewide Master Plan for bikeways. Develop plans, conduct on-site research and make recommendations that will affect funding for future bicycle projects and bicycle-related laws.
Professional bicycle planning work experience is not needed but appreciated as this position focuses solely on all aspects of bicycling including educating the public on bicycle safety in person at various public events, overseeing bicycle education and shared mobility programs, enforcing bicycle-related laws, and advising on bicycle-related risk management issues.
Special Working Conditions: Performs field investigations. Is a Disaster Support Worker per Mayor Directive 13-1.

Substitution: Work experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis. Such experience must have provided the knowledge, skills, and analytical ability normally gained from attainment of a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:Two (2) years of professional work experience in transportation planning and/or engineering projects.
Applicable Skills: - Knowledge of the principles, practices, purposes, scope and techniques of the various stages of transportation planning.
- Knowledge of sources and uses of socio-economic information.
- Ability to translate ideas and recommendations into plans and drawings which are in conformance with laws and regulations, with the general plan, and with the best social, economic, and public interest utilization.
- Ability to collect, analyze and interpret data pertaining to planning and zoning situations, and make effective decisions and recommendations from these data.
LICENSE REQUIREMENT:Possession of an appropriate valid driver's license, as required.
