The Department of Transportation Services, Transportation Performance and Development Division, is hiring a Planner VI (Social Planning), located in Honolulu. The position performs responsible programming, planning, coordination, and community action work relative to the development, implementation, and management of City's Oahu Metropolitan Planning Organization (OahuMPO) Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) funded Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) projects to ensure the City continues to receive federal funding; and performs other related duties as required.
Examples of duties include but are not limited to the following:Coordinates several activities required for the City to continue to receive federal funding for transportation projects.
Responsible for the evaluation of all transportation and projects to determine potential eligibility for grants of federal funds.
Coordinates federal audits, oversight reviews, and federal reporting between the Department and other city, state, and federal agencies.
Coordinates and submits to the OahuMPO the City’s request for proposals for the annual Overall Work Program (OWP).
Develops, prepares, and monitors the City’s annual federal highway grant program.

Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in city planning, architecture, engineering, economics, sociology, public administration or a related field.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:Three (3) years of professional work experience in the planning, development and formulation of social, socio-economic research, community action or related projects and programs.
NONQUALIFYING EXPERIENCE:Having the required number of years of experience will not in itself be accepted as qualifying for the position.
