Under the direction of the Director and Deputy Director of Courtroom Support Services, the incumbent provides operational and technical support to court proceedings for the Circuit Court for Prince George's County.Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Manage and monitor assigned courtrooms and hearings, which include verifying recordings, checking archives, identifying error messages, and ensuring quality control.
- Maintain and file media for archival and retrieval purposes.
- Assist with covering the front desk, which includes processing phone requests for audio and transcripts as needed.
- Utilize computer and/or VHS equipment to locate information within media archives.
- Process and file paperwork, and retrieve videotapes and other media from archives.
- Assist judges, staff, lawyers, and the general public with information regarding the processing of transcripts and audio orders.
- Ensure quality control by ensuring that digital recordings are annotated according to the court's specifications for easy search, archiving, and playback.
- Notify the Circuit Court's Office of Information Technology of any issues obstructing the recording in real-time, such as microphone malfunctions, necessary adjustments to cameras in court and hearing rooms, and any other audio/visual concerns.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
An Associate's Degree in Business Administration or Social Science and one (1) year of administrative experience that involved working with the public, office management, and operational details will be accepted. Any equivalent combination of relevant training, education, and experience will also be accepted.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficient in computer software, troubleshooting, and support of multiple software programs, including but not limited to Windows, Microsoft Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and CourtSmart (preferred).
- Basic knowledge of courtroom proceedings, particularly about capturing a clear recording of the hearing for transcription requirements.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Attentiveness to detail and ability to multitask; Strong computer skills, including video and telecommunication technology, Zoom, Webex, MS Teams, and other web conferencing systems.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and possess a strong ethic.
- An innate sense of follow-through, team spirit, and professional responsibility for the quality of the work performed.
