The City of Peoria offers an exciting, hands-on Internship at the Peoria Sports Complex designed for students looking to gain real-world experience in Sports Marketing, Sponsorship, Event Promotion, and Game Day Operations during Major League Baseball’s Spring Training.
As an intern, you won't just watch from the sidelines—you'll be part of the team that helps bring Spring Training to life. You'll work alongside staff supporting TWO Major League Baseball organizations—the San Diego Padres and Seattle Mariners—while gaining firsthand experience in the fast-paced world of professional sports and live events. You'll interact with corporate partners, execute marketing and sponsorship activations, assist with gameday operations, and help deliver in-game promotions in front of thousands of fans every day. You'll also have opportunities to gain exposure to social media and photography, ticketing, live production, and other areas of the sports industry, making this a well-rounded opportunity to launch your career in sports.
Regular Duties Include:
- Interact with corporate partners and assist with sponsor needs on game days.
- Help prepare and execute sponsored activation areas throughout the ballpark.
- Assist with office projects and administrative responsibilities that support Spring Training operations.
- Run in-game promotions and help execute sponsorship commitments.
- Capture social media content and photos for sponsor recaps and marketing initiatives.
- Distribute exit coupons and assist with post-game promotions and activities.
Expectations:
- Work at least 3 games/15 hours per week (including one game Monday-Thursday).
- Commit to your assigned schedule and communicate proactively when conflicts arise, including finding a substitute when needed.
- Take ownership of assigned in-game promotions and confidently execute responsibilities independently or with limited supervision.
