DESCRIPTION
The incumbent in this position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the fleet services shop for the specific shift they are assigned. Duties include but are not limited to:
· Direct supervision and oversight of assigned staff.
· Payroll management, to include time worked and leave entries.
· Customer service of internal and external customers, and resolution of concerns.
· Work order maintenance and creation with established fleet software.
· Vendor repairs and warranty coordination.
· Preparation of daily reports or required documentation.
· Establish work / shift schedules for staff. Coordinate vacation requests.
· Select, train and motivate staff. Conduct recruitment process as assigned.
· Identify needed training or equipment to maintain an up to date and well-equipped shop.
· Coordinate training needs with city training staff and outside training options.
· Prepare written documents suitable for management with complete content for subject and formatting.
· Perform quality inspections of work performed by staff and by vendors.
· Complete various assigned projects thoroughly with acceptable results.
· Investigate employee personnel or performance issues and coordinate with management and HR representatives to formulate and enact a resolution.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Work Experience:
Requires three (3) years of experience as a mechanic responsible for diagnosis and repair of automotive and/or diesel equipment systems. Also requires three (3) years of supervisory or lead responsibility managing a work group of 5 or more employees.
Candidates must have the minimum amount of work experience. Years of experience are based upon a full-time work schedule (2,080 hours per year). The sum of an applicant’s full-time and/or part-time qualifying work experience must meet or exceed the stated minimum qualification. Education will not substitute for the required work experience; however, related unpaid and/or volunteer work experience may be used as qualifying work experience.
Education:
Equivalent to completion of an associate degree related to the core functions of this position.
The term “equivalent” means that directly related work experience exceeding the required work experience will substitute in equal time increments for college-level education, for example: one year of additional directly related work experience will substitute for one year of college education (30 credit hours).
Certifications, Licenses, and/or Registrations:
· Possession of a valid driver’s license.
· Possession of a valid Arizona Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is preferred.
