Required Education and Experience:
- Graduation from high school or GED; and
- Three (3) years of increasingly responsible safety and workers’ compensation administration experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Public sector work experience desirable.
- OSHA 30 certification desired.
- Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification a plus.
Available Schedule:
- Must be available before and after regular work hours as needed to support training requirements.
- 8 hours daily, Monday - Friday
- 9-80 (nine-hour workdays with a three-day weekend every other week)

Directly related experience and qualifications will be evaluated alongside others who perform work of comparable character as required by Pay Equity Law. Six steps are included in this salary range, allowing opportunity for annual movement through the steps.

Examples of Job Duties:Essential Functions of the Position:
- Monitors and coordinates occupational safety and health programs, including coordination of all Safety Committees, oversees, tracks, and processes all quarterly safety inspections, coordination of accident prevention and safety awareness training programs, conducts worksite inspections and ergonomic evaluations, maintains OSHA records, reviews accident and injury investigation reports, etc. Prepares and conducts safety training sessions for employees.
- Monitors and coordinates the City’s Workers’ Compensation program: oversees submission of Workers’ Compensation claims, reviews, and analyzes claim reports, analyzes all workers compensation-related invoices, and verifies for payment, develops return-to-work and modified duty assignments for City departments, pursues subsidy reimbursements, maintains records and files.
- Develops and implements the City’s Health Promotion Wellness Program by creating monthly challenges and milestones to improve workplace health and wellness. Tracks, schedules, and monitors program.
- Visits work sites, identifies existing or potential hazards, and prepares an action plan to reduce the frequency, severity and cost of accidents and occupational illness.
- Analyzes data to ensure program is beneficial to the needs of the City’s employees to reduce risks and provide a healthier workforce.
- Maintains City Gym by ensuring equipment is safe and functional or replaced when necessary. Ensures gym and gym equipment is clean. Updates waivers, maintains records and coordinates entertainment platforms.
- Must be available to respond to a serious work accident or injury 24/7 if needed.
- Drives vehicle to other City locations to attend and provide trainings, and various meetings.
- Assists in assessing and updating the organization’s existing health and safety policies and protocols.
- Assists with the development and administration of risk fund (safety) and Health Promotion budget, revenues, and expenses.
- The scope of the assigned area of responsibility will depend on departmental structure and is at the discretion of the Human Resources Director.
