The Georgia Department of Public Health, Health Protection, Emergency Preparedness & Response is seeking an
Assistant Regional EMS Director-Region 3 for the Office of EMS/Trauma.
This is a GRANT FUNDED position and subject to available grant funds.
Job Responsibilities
Under limited to broad supervision, provides the direct oversight in the management of specific goals and objectives for the systematic implementation and evaluation of a comprehensive emergency medical services system in a designated region, and performs essential functions in the licensing of EMS agencies for compliance with rules and regulations, EMS Procedures, and guidelines.
This position is located in region 3 and covers the following counties: Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fulton, Gwinnett, Newton, and Rockdale.
Functions Include, But Are Not Limited To
- Ensuring regulatory compliance in the monitoring, evaluation and inspection of EMS agencies and vehicles for adherence to DPH rules and regulations, EMS Procedures, and guidelines.
- Performs inspections and licensing of ground and air ambulances, medical first responder vehicles and neonatal vehicles in the region.
- Performs investigations related to EMS personnel and EMS agencies in the region.
- Collaborates with healthcare entities within the Region, including the healthcare coalition(s), hospitals and other partners.
- Plans and coordinates annual inspections and audits of assigned agencies and licensed vehicles for procedural compliance, or to maintain appropriate licensure.
- Serves as a liaison between the Department and the EMS Regional Council.
- Serves as the Department’s representative on the Bylaws Committee, RTAC, EMS-C Committee and other committees of the Regional EMS Council.
- Assists in the state’s emergency preparedness and response to natural and manmade disasters and public health emergencies.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in operations management, business administration, or a related field which includes three (3) years in a managerial or supervisory role;
OR
Seven (7) years of related professional experience which includes three (3) years in a managerial or supervisory role;
OR
Three (3) years of experience required at the lower level Mgr, Business Ops (GSM010) or position equivalent.
Note: An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year-over year.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently licensed as a Georgia Paramedic
- 5 years documented experience at an upper management level with a licensed Emergency Medical Service agency or designated EMS education program
- Knowledge with the Department of Public Health Rules and Regulations for Emergency Medical Services 511-9-2 and O.C.G.A
- 31-11
- Experience in standard computer programs at a moderate to advanced level of proficiency

DPH accepts educational credentials recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE). DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degree, diploma, licensure, etc.
