Pima County Department of Transportation is seeking an experienced and motivated Traffic Signal Operations Engineer. This position is responsible for managing the Traffic Signals and Lighting team in the Planning & Engineering Division. The ideal candidate will have technical and professional experience in the design and maintenance of intelligent transportation systems (ITS), traffic signals and roadway lighting.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in engineering or closely-related field as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment AND six years of post-registration professional engineering experience and current registration or licensure in any state as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Professional Engineer (RPE).
(Relevant experience and/or education from an accredited college or university may be substituted.)

Experience related to the design and maintenance of traffic signals and roadway lighting.

Experience with the development and implementation of traffic simulations, traffic signal timing, and coordination plans.

Experience evaluating public requests related to traffic signal performance and providing written and/or verbal responses to various constituents and the media.

Experience applying federal, state, and local regulations and standards related to traffic signals and lighting.
Pay Range:
Full Range: $88,881 - $133,321 Annually
Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification.
