Salary: $47,957.70/annual minimum - $71,936.54/annual max (Depending on qualifications)
GENERAL SUMMARY
To provide professional assistance to the Manager of Budget and Financial Analysis in budget preparation, ongoing budget review documentation, research and analysis.
SUPERVISION
- General supervision is provided by the Manager of Budget and Financial Analysis.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- All behaviors comply with the Code of Conduct and Rules of Behavior outlined in Chapter 8 of the General Government Policies and Procedures Manual.
- Assist in development of budget document, revenue manual, budget preparation manual and other documents as needed; and assist with other reports necessary to support management decision-making process.
- Conduct various surveys, research and data analyses; assist with expenditure and revenue forecasting, cost-benefit analyses and other budget decision tools; assist in preparing long-term financial plan and other budget and financial reports; interpret and organize financial information and make recommendations based on interpretation.
- Participate in the budget process; lend support to departments; compile department budget requests; design and prepare documents for budget and audit activities; compile and distribute departmental salary projections; and coordinate various budget meetings.
- Organize and maintain budget files, documents and materials in accordance to City policies; conduct transactions in the integrated budget, accounting and purchasing system including budget data entry, budget transfers and amendments, salary and budget imports, purchase requisitions and contract payments.
- Monitor department expenditures to original budget and review transactions for appropriate coding.
- Attend and participate in professional groups, committees and seminars; stay abreast of new trends and developments in the field of budgeting and finance.
- Answer questions and provide information to the public and other departments including budgets, financial trends, forecasts, surveys and other requested data.
- Coordinate records retention program for budget documents, reports and materials according to City policies and procedures.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting or Finance required.
- Master's degree in a related field preferred.
EXPERIENCE
- Two years of experience involving analytical research and reporting of complex financial data or any equivalent combination of relevant education or experience.
- Experience with a computerized accounting system in a municipal government environment preferred.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
WORK SCHEDULE
- Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
