The Economic Development Coordinator coordinates and manages the customer relationship management (CRM) Database for economic development programs and activities, including monthly pipeline report, ensures data is complete and accurate, coordinates with other departments in the development continuum process and assists with the electronic tracking and monitoring of key industry sector commercial development projects. Additionally, the incumbent conducts data research, compilation, and analysis, including economic, market, geographic, demographic and statistical reports and comparisons. Prepares, designs, and delivers high-quality presentations to support business development initiatives, economic reports, special projects, and stakeholder engagements. Plans, schedules, and oversees ribbon cuttings, groundbreakings, and grand opening events in collaboration with businesses, city officials, and community partners.

EXAMINATION PROCESS
Only a limited number of the most qualified applicants meeting the City's requirements will be invited for an interview. The examination process for this position will consist of a panel interview. - Acts as department lead for CRM database to ensure the data is complete and accurate. Engages resources to resolve complex issues; identify solutions and achieve consensus; and maintains scheduled initiatives for the advancement of economic development projects through various phases of development.
- Manages, oversees and synchronizes CRM data to optimize data collection and provides regular dashboard and pipeline reports.
- Utilizes CRM to prepare, review and present department monthly reports including business development pipeline, accomplishments, and performance measures; tracks and reviews existing projects and provides support to ensure projects advance toward a successful outcome.
- Coordinates regular communication with department users, and conducts systematic data cleaning (correcting errors, creating consistency) to ensure all CRM data is current and correct.
- Assists with CRM entry when required.
- Creates CRM database training materials and provides CRM training to department staff.
- Assists with customization (through consultant and/or internal IT) of the CRM to match varying needs of team to produce and analyze data.
- Collaborates with business representatives and the Southwest Valley Chamber of Commerce to schedule ribbon cuttings, ground breakings and grand opening events in Goodyear.
- Conducts research, compiles, and analyzes data; prepares and generates related reports and correspondence.
- Conducts statistical, analytical and market research on economic and development issues; identifies and collects information needed to conduct studies; obtains information from varying sources and databases including statistical, economic, population, demographic, and other related information.
- Provides targeted research support for business retention, expansion, and recruitment.
- Prepares, designs, and delivers high-quality presentations.
- Assists with the development, evaluation, and implementation of program goals, objectives, activities, and strategic initiatives; assesses consequences and outcomes of program initiatives.
- Contributes written content for marketing, documents and correspondence, awards nominations, and other purposes, as needed.
- Writes proposals for business recruitment and special projects.
- Possesses exceptional attention to detail.
Formal Education/Knowledge: Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. Knowledge is normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Experience: Minimum one years’ experience in a related field.
Certifications and Other Requirements: Valid Driver’s License
Reading: Work requires the ability to read general correspondence, technical reports, survey and analyze materials, and memorandums at a college level.
Math: Work requires the ability to perform general math calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division and to conduct college-level algebraic and statistical calculations.
Writing: Work requires the ability to write general correspondence, memorandums, letters, and reports at a college level.

Economic Development Coordinator
12 Month Objectives
Within the first Month:
- Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers via email, telephone, and in-person.
- Become familiar with economic development, focus areas, and performance objectives.
- Spend time shadowing department members to better understand the challenges and opportunities of the department.
- Familiarize yourself with the department’s CRM program.
Within the first three-months:
- Work with staff to develop, evaluate, and implement activities and procedures to advance commercial projects through the Development Continuum.
- Coordinate tracking of objectives, performance metrics, and council updates and reports, including Performance Measures, Monthly Pipeline, Strategic Plan, and others identified by staff or council.
- Work with deputy director and business development managers to create workplans for research, BRE, and related programming.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to schedule ribbon cuttings, ground breakings and grand opening events in Goodyear to support departmental projects as needs or challenges arise.
Within the first six-months:
- Work with deputy director to coordinate activities and initiatives as outlined in the department’s strategic plan.
- Work with deputy director and business development managers to coordinate and update the monthly GEO Tour message and delivery.
- Assist a presenter on at least one monthly GEO Tour and join the monthly rotation schedule to present a future GEO Tour with assistance.
Within the first year:
- Prepare and present reports internally and externally.
- Complete the AAED Basic Economic Development course or a course/class with a similar course outcome if one has not already been taken.
- Create a professional development plan. Learn new skills through professional development, continued education and/or involvement with a professional organization.
