PAY AND BENEFITS
Annual Pay Range: $40,481.77 - $50,947.68
Hourly Pay Range: $20.759881 - $26.127015
Salary offers will be made within the posted pay range and will be based on a candidate's experience (paid or unpaid) that is directly relevant to the position.

JOB DETAILS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Clackamas County's Facilities Management Division has an opening for a dependable, detail-oriented individual to support the upkeep of county buildings and facilities as a Building Maintenance Assistant (Janitorial).

Our Building Maintenance Assistants play a critical behind-the-scenes role in supporting the operations of our county buildings and facilities. Their hands-on contributions help create a safe and welcoming space for employees and the public.
In this role, you will be responsible for a broad range of janitorial and maintenance tasks. These include cleaning and maintaining restrooms, removing garbage and recycling, scrubbing and polishing floors, applying protective coatings, and restocking supplies. You will also perform light building repairs such as patching and painting, servicing light fixtures, and lubricating locks and hinges. Additional duties involve maintaining landscaped areas, delivering and organizing supplies, cleaning carpets and upholstery, tracking inventory, and working through facility management software. You will also coordinate and monitor outside contractors performing plumbing, electrical, and HVAC services. This is a physically active position, often outdoors or in varied environmental conditions, and may involve after-hours emergency response.

Required Minimum Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*
• Demonstrated knowledge commercial janitorial maintenance methods and practices
• Knowledge of basic math
• Knowledge of recordkeeping
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with County staff, service contractors, vendors, customers and the public
• Ability to perform after-hours emergency response on a call-out basis

TYPICAL TASKS
Duties may include but are not limited to the following:
• Cleans and maintains buildings and restrooms; sweeps, scrubs, strips and polishes floor surfaces; applies wax, acrylic or other materials to hard surfaces; scrubs walls, ceilings and
plumbing fixtures; removes garbage and litter; restocks supplies; graffiti removal; removes and disposes of bio-hazardous waste, including site cleanup.
• Maintains inventory of janitorial supplies in accordance with Facilities Management and procurement procedures and guidelines; maintains assigned area. Warehouse duties clean organize, load and unload vehicles, and store supplies.
• Performs basic inspections on buildings and/or grounds noting maintenance and safety issues that need to be corrected; performs minor maintenance and repairs, emergency janitorial clean-ups, and work during inclement weather events.
• Visits various county buildings and collects recyclable materials ensuring proper separation and handling.
• Monitors the work of service contractors (example: window washing contractors).
• Performs skilled carpet and upholstery cleaning.
• Maintains routine maintenance records, tracks time, repairs, and supplies purchased in Facilities asset management software. Other duties as required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Incumbents are required to perform after-hours emergency response on a call-out basis
Duties require frequent walking, climbing, bending, kneeling and the ability to lift and carry objects. Incumbents are exposed to a variety of environmental elements including wind, rain, snow, dust, fumes and other irritants.
Duties require squatting, kneeling, bending, twisting, balancing, climbing, fine motor control, and the ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds, and push/pull 100 pounds. Duties involve frequent exposure to confined spaces, loud noises, slippery and/or uneven surfaces, working at heights, and adverse weather conditions.
WORK SCHEDULE
This position is included in the county's alternate workweek program, working 40 hours during a standard workweek of Monday through Thursday (Fridays off). Specific hours of work will be discussed with the candidate selected for this position at the time an offer of employment is extended. This position is designated as on-site/in-person. It is expected that the selected candidate will perform duties at the specified on-site work location.
