As our Social Caseworker C/Team Leader you will serve as a functional supervisor in the supervisor absences, due to meetings, planned or unplanned leave, or at any time designated by the unit supervisor. The incumbent provides leadership, ongoing support, and direction to co-workers on the team. The team leader also coaches and counsels staff in the function of their job duties.
Duties
In addition to acting as team lead, the incumbent also performs the expected job tasks of their primary position as a member of the team. This person should set the example of work performance for the team, and perform at successful or above level.
This position provides supervision of fellow co-workers., interns, and acts as consultant to other agency staff.
The Team Leader
- approves Trails requests
- reviews and sign home studies, kin safety assessment, annual updates(when the supervisor is not available for approval or when directed by the unit supervisor
- provides guidance to team members, ensuring delivery of services as appropriate
- acts as liaison with external services as necessary
- participates in the hiring process for other team workers
- substitutes for the supervisor on community and ACDHS committees
- provides ongoing training for team members and the community
- promotes team building and helps to direct overall team functioning
- sets the example of a successful worker for the team and fosters team work
- encourage and model taking responsibility for work tasks
- provide ongoing support as needed
- keep supervisor apprised of issues that my impact the team
The team leader must be available during routine work schedule to assist the supervisor and team. This person must be available for the basic core work hours; and able to adjust his/her schedule as needed in the absence of the supervisor.
The Caseworker C or Lead worker signs home studies and re-assessments in the unit supervisor’s absence; provides workload consultation; helps direct workload flow; approves Trails entries; and provides consultation to other agency staff.
In addition the lead worker is conscious of resources and strives to maximize their use by team members.
And above all supports agency and supervisory directives and maintains effective communication with the supervisor.
Requirements
Advanced knowledge of casework techniques which include in-depth therapeutic approaches; techniques of affecting changes in behavior; casework intervention skills; human behavior; normal child development; child abuse neglect dynamics. Advanced knowledge of foster care and certification issues. Specialized skills in employing various therapeutic modalities and counseling techniques; advanced skills in interviewing and in verbal and written communication. Ability to make critical decisions regarding case planning, treatment, and placement of children. Ability to train new workers and critique the work of other professional social case workers, provide consultation, and assist in the evaluation of job performance.

Education
MSW or
BSW or
Bachelor's or Master's degree in the human behavioral sciences fields.
Experience
Three (3) years of full-time professional social casework experience acquired after the completion of the human behavioral sciences degree in a public or private social services agency.
A MSW will substitute for two (2) of the 3 years required social casework experience.
A BSW or Master's in a human behavioral science field will substitute for one (1) of the three (3) years required social casework experience.
Supplemental Information
Must posses and maintain a valid Colorado Driver's License.
Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
