Job Description:
Under minimal supervision of the Parks Director, performs work of average difficulty in the operation and maintenance of County parks and performs related work as required.
Essential Job Functions
- Operates vehicles such as fairway mowers, pick-up trucks, backhoes, Workman utility carts, lawn mowers, front-end loader, fork-lift and other various small maintenance tools such as chainsaws, weed eaters, electric drills; and other small tools;
- Performs a variety of semi-skilled maintenance duties such as trash clean-up, restroom cleaning, minor electrical wiring, basic plumbing, sprinkler and irrigation installation and repair, basic carpentry, landscape maintenance, general construction and other duties as needed.
- Encourage staff to be pro-active by practicing safety in the workplace and by educating the guests and public on park rules and regulations; and
- Travel to service outlying parks in Ehrenberg, Cibola or Centennial Park as needed.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- One (1) year experience related to park duties
- Maintain a valid Driver License throughout the length of employment
Required Knowledge, Skill & Ability:
- Knowledge of operations of public parks; some knowledge of routine repair and maintenance of park facilities;
- Skilled in public relations
- Ability to accept and carry out assignments and schedules where and when needed in the County park system
- Work outside, exposed to extremes of heat and cold.
- Ability to be deployed to remote areas of the County
- Work in adverse conditions for extended periods of time
- Must be able to lift 50-100 lbs. occasionally, 20-50 lbs. frequently, up to 10-20 lbs. constantly
- Periodically or routinely lift heavy items up to 50 lbs. and carry long distances up to 20 feet
