Position Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Office Manager and direct supervision of the Legal Assistant Manager, performs work of considerable difficulty, working in tandem with attorneys through all phases of the litigation process.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare a variety of legal documents including, but not limited to, Motions, Responses, and Disclosure Statements.
- Gathers pertinent case information from law enforcement agencies and courts.
- Receives and reviews defense information and requests.
- Maintains a case management system with electronic software to include extensive data entry.
- Review and analyze all documents submitted electronically or in paper format by law enforcement, courts, and other sources, and initiates cases in the electronic case management system in a timely and accurate manner to ensure proper workflow and accurate case data for required statistical reporting.
- Review, analyze and redact documents, audio and videos, ensuring that protected/confidential information is not released.
- Accurately maintain the calendars of several attorneys, ensuring that all court appearances and deadlines are entered and met. Contact parties involved in cases and coordinate interviews and/or meetings.
- Assist attorneys with court and trial preparation.
- Assists the public telephonically and in person.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Maintain appropriate security and confidentiality of information created or encountered in the performance of assigned duties.
- Adhere to the current La Paz County Attorney’s Office policies and procedures.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED Certification
- Pass a background investigation.
Preferred Knowledge, Skill & Ability:
- Experience working in a criminal justice agency, law agency or court of law.
- Experience with databases and creating legal documents.
- Knowledge of the workflow in the legal system
