This senior level position will provide a lead role in complex financial planning and analysis, budget preparation and monitoring, and financial systems support to Public Works divisions and programs.
The successful candidate will possess:
- Knowledge of core principles of finance, economics, budgeting, and accounting
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including working effectively with large amounts of data and ability to utilize wide array of formulas and functions to automate processes
- Advanced analytical skills, including trend analysis and understanding the fiscal impacts of market conditions, as well as state and county laws, regulations, and code
- Ability to create reports that present complex information professionally and effectively to different audiences, including presenting to Public Works directors and management
- Advanced skills in administering financial system reporting and project cost configurations
- Ability to train and support department financial system users
- Ability to train and lead the work of other Public Works fiscal staff
About Administrative Operations
The Administrative Operations Division provides central support functions for the entire Public Works Department. This position will be responsible for guiding the work of fiscal staff in the department to create, manage, and present budgets and financial information.

Snohomish County Public Works is responsible for more than 1,650 miles of county roads, 201 bridges and 202 traffic control signals, as well as processing nearly 600,000 tons of garbage per year. Teleworking Options
The work associated with this position can be performed with a hybrid of remote work and in-office work as needed and assigned. For employees who prefer to work in the office full time, that option is also available.
Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a home workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours. Snohomish County has a robust collection of tools and resources to support working remotely. A Snohomish County Telework agreement is required for employees assigned to telework.
Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their Snohomish County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
