The Grant Supervisor will develop a comprehensive citywide grant program. Creating streamlined processes, policies, and systems for state and federal grant application writing, awarding, financial and operation oversight, and reporting ensuring compliance and efficiency in all aspects. Providing leadership for managing the City’s growing grant portfolio. This position will focus on developing, implementing, and overseeing city grants for the Executive, Planning and Community Development, Public Works, Parks & Recreation, Fire, and Police departments including both state and federal funding. The Incumbent acts as a liaison for the City and interacts with other agencies and departments, and will provide advice to departments on sources, types, legitimate uses, and availability of grant funds.
This is a hybrid/onsite position.
This position is full-time and might require some weekends and evenings.
- Supervise grant writer employees and contracted staff
- Prioritize and manage workload and timelines
- Develop and implement processes and procedures to streamline the grants and contracts management process.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies related to grants and contracts
- Provide grant research, opportunities, procurement, and compliance expertise while ensuring the City can meet all grant requirements
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with staff, grantors, and contractors to facilitate efficient and effective communication
- Collaborate with staff and community organizations to identify and pursue new grant opportunities.
- Write, submit, and manage grant applications to secure funding
- Review and analyze grant and contract proposals to determine feasibility and alignment with city goals, priorities, and equity-based programs
- Coordinate with the Finance department to manage all aspects of the grant process, including reporting, compliance, and ensuring the position is self-funded through secured grants.
- Coordinate with leadership and other stakeholders to align grant proposals with departmental budget needs and priorities.
- Collaborate with other city departments on interdepartmental grant funding opportunities
- Act as the citywide point-of-contact for communication between staff and grantors
- Train and mentor team members on grant and contract compliance and management
- Conduct internal and facilitate external audits to ensure compliance and identify any potential issues or areas for improvement
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Extensive experience writing and managing federal and state grants

- Strong understanding of relevant grant sources
- Familiarity of sources of organization data
- Principles and practices of grant budgeting
- Grant proposal submissions and fundraising processes

- Legislation governing Grant contracts

Education and Experience
- Three years of increasingly responsible experience in related field, with a minimum of two years’ experience in grant writing, and supervising; or demonstrated leadership experience or team lead experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in program related field preferred,
- Any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Public sector experience preferred
Licenses and Certificates
- Licenses and certificates specific to the assigned program may be required
