The Animal Services Department is seeking a compassionate and innovated Management Aide to join our team! Our mission is to create a PAWsitive impact by enriching the lives of animals and people. We accomplish this by caring for thousands of animals (domestic and wildlife) annually and working to reunite them with their owners, rehome them, or transfer them to rescue and rehabilitation organizations. You Will Be Responsible For
- Processing invoices and reconciling accounts, setting up purchase orders and professional service agreements, working with vendors.
- Assisting with budget preparation and management, budget projections, and procurement of supplies and equipment.
- Preparing staff reports, City and State Health Department reports, and participating in the development of policies and procedures.
- Updating the website and assisting with the development of marketing materials and content for social media, newsletters, and public brochures.
- Assisting with the onboarding of new volunteers and tracking volunteer training and service hours.
- Responding to inquiries from the public at the front counter, on the phone, and via email regarding a variety of animal related concerns.
- Assisting with research for special projects such as grant applications, updating municipal codes, and disaster response plans.
- On occasion, assisting with the care of animals including cleaning and disinfecting cages and replenishing food and water.

ARE YOU QUALIFIED
Education And/or Experience
High school graduation or GED is required. College-level coursework in public administration, accounting, or a related field is desirable. Five years of increasingly responsible clerical, technical, and routine administrative experience related to the assigned position, including or supplemented by college-level coursework in public administration, accounting, or a related field.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Working knowledge of research methods and techniques, statistical analysis and report preparation techniques; methods and procedures of budget preparation; organization and functions of the assigned municipal department; general office procedures; customer service procedures; leadership techniques; word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, and database software applications.
Ability to perform specialized, technical and routine administrative tasks; enter, search and update computerized records and reports; conduct research, perform analysis, and prepare reports of findings; interpret and apply related laws, ordinances, and regulations; work independently; understand and follow verbal and written directions; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements:
Depending upon assignment, possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Class C California driver’s license and demonstrate a satisfactory driving record.

Successful Candidate Will Be Required To

- Retirement – California Public Employee's Retirement System (CalPERS)
- Medical - $1,325 per month City paid. (Effective the first full-pay period in December 2024, City-paid medical increases to $1,375)

- Deferred Compensation – City will match up to $50 per month and 1% of monthly base salary per month

- Vacation - 80 hours per year increasing to 180 hours after 15 years of service. Buyback option of up to 160 hours per fiscal year.
