The Prince George’s County Office of Central Services is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a Fleet Division Manager (Administrative Specialist II), grade G31, in the Fleet Management Division.
About the Position
This position is responsible for managerial and administrative functions for the Fleet Management Division. Overall management shall include but not be limited to a comprehensive, diversified fleet for county government, report preparation, development and monitoring of Division’s operational procedures and annual budget, legislation preparation, development and implementation of the Division’s goals and objectives. Additionally, responsibilities include but are not limited to vehicle assignment review and recommendations, petroleum management, and vehicle replacement recommendations.The Division maintains over 4,000 vehicles including administrative and public safety sedans, buses, trucks, and motorcycles, providing general light and heavy repairs, accident repairs, preventive maintenance service, Vehicle emissions inspection towing, road service and component rebuilding. Work is performed under general supervision of the Deputy Director and performance is evaluated in terms to its overall contribution to managerial improvement and organizational efficiency.
About the Agency
The Office of Central Services is a multifaceted agency of the Prince George’s County Government providing government-wide, mission critical support services in the areas of facilities operations and management, building design & construction, real estate services, fleet management, and general services. We make government operations operate better for the government.
Develop goals, objectives, and performance measures for the Fleet Management Division.
Coordinates the day-to-day operational activities of the Fleet Management Division, including key support staff utilizing operational resources to the maximum extent to fulfill divisional responsibilities.
Oversees and manages the garage operations of the Fleet Management Division, including motor pool operations located at Central Avenue and Lanham.
Develops and monitors the annual operating budget to ensure sufficient funds are available to meet the division's needs.
Maintains liaison with organizations, both public and private, with which the division conducts business, to include vendors, using agencies, other County agencies and professional organizations established to serve the needs of professional Fleet Managers.
Responsible for the hiring, training, evaluating and disciplining of employees needed to accomplish the divisional goals and objectives.
Issues guidance, direction, and motivation; establishes standards of work performance and evaluates performance based on position descriptions to meet acceptable industry standards of services.
Ensures personnel actions are in compliance with Collective Bargaining Agreement and County Personnel Law.
- Willingly and cooperatively performs tasks and duties assigned which may not be specifically listed in position description but are within the general category and responsibility level typically associated with employee's class of work.
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree in public or business administration, or related field
- Two (2) years of responsible experience in fleet management and leadership abilities.
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications- Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM) or Certified Automotive Fleet Specialist (CAFS) through the National Association of Fleet Administrators (NAFA) or Certified Public Fleet Professional (CPFP) through the American Public Works Association (APAW).
