Senior Integrated Waste Collectors provide residents and businesses of the City of Ontario with outstanding integrated waste services. Senior Integrated Waste Collectors, leads by example, may oversee staff, safely loads and operate mechanical integrated waste collection equipment for residential, commercial, or industrial collection, and transport integrated waste materials to disposal area.

The Integrated Waste Department, which is part of the City of Ontario's Public Works Agency, is committed to providing timely and efficient integrated waste and recycling collection services with an emphasis on good customer service, sustainability, and environmental stewardship. The Integrated Waste Department includes approximately 116 full-time staff and offers a variety of services and programs related to refuse and recycling collection service to approximately 33,000 residential and 3,500 commercial customers. Among the services offered are weekly residential curbside recycling and green waste collection, and a full array of commercial and industrial integrated waste services designed to meet any business needs, including commercial food waste collection services, available six days a week, Monday through Saturday.

Downtown Ontario (What to do in Downtown Ontario) The essential functions typically performed by the Senior Integrated Waste Collector include the following:- Operates assigned equipment for the collection and transportation of integrated waste on designated residential, commercial, or industrial routes.
- Picks up and deposits the material from refuse containers into a refuse truck.
- Operates compaction and other mechanical equipment on the truck.
- Performs either automated or hand collection for assigned residential customers; bin collection for assigned commercial customers; or roll-off collection for assigned industrial customers.
- Contacts customers on matters affecting the collection of integrated waste.
- Oversees the work of Integrated Waste Collectors as required.
- Performs daily safety check of collection vehicles and report problems, both orally and in writing.
- Performs minor maintenance of vehicles as required.
- Maintains appropriate records and prepares reports.
- Notes conditions of refuse containers and reports the existence of improper containers or materials that do not comply with City requirements for collection.
- Drives unit to disposal area and disposes load.
Education
High school diploma or recognized equivalent.
Experience
One year experience operating vehicles requiring a California Commercial Class B, or higher, driver's license; ability to operate assigned integrated waste equipment safely and efficiently; ability to read, write, understand, and follow oral and written instructions provided by the City or by a supervisor.
License
Valid California Commercial Class B, or higher, driver's license and an acceptable driving record at the time of appointment (hire).
DesirableAdditional years of experience in integrated waste collection operations and knowledge of the Ontario street system and neighborhood geography.
